following 3 adventures made fascinating reading, they required too much
editing to be posted on a Tales page...read and see what you think of them.
Although they have a humorous tone, the experience itself is chilling...)
"The
Shadow, a Punch, and Ozzy Osbourne"
Hello, I'm from the Philippines I don't know if
someone will believe me in my story especially the last one but here it goes:
5 years ago I was walking in our village street at around 11 pm, I was going
to my friend & watch videos w/ him, along that street (zalamea St..) there are
tall light posts, while walking you can see your own shadow in front of the
street your walking on if the light post is behind you. a couple of light
posts later I just noticed another shadow beside my own, at a very instant I
thought there was just another person walking almost near me & the shadow
would be cast from the light post behind us, curiously I wanted to look behind
me to see who he was (because in our village, the neighbors here knew each
other all the time) but when I did, nobody was there, but when I check the
shadow beside me, it was clearly still right there. so I did some checking if
its a double shadow of my own (coz sometimes the light post on the left side
of the road is so bright & could cast another shadow at you besides the light
post on the right side of the street). unfortunately, I checked the other
shadow if it would originate on my own legs, but the shadow leg has its own
origin & not mine! I also checked if the rhythmic walking of the other shadow
would be similar to mine, but when I stopped walking to see, the other shadow
kept on walking. I quickly turned my head to see if someone is playing a joke
at me, but there was no one there! when I felt a cold air at the back of my
head! I got scared & ran! I ran as fast as I could until I reached my friend's
house. I told him about it but he didn't seem to believe me, so I just let it
go & spent the night at their house.
Sometime a
year after that I had another experience, I was already asleep in my dark
bedroom, I thought I was having this dream of someone lightly punching at the
side of my right upper thigh. when I woke up because of the weird dream I'm
having, I can still feel the light punch at my thigh, I opened my eyes (but
could not see anything because if you turn off the lights inside my room its a
full pitch black & even there is no light to be cast from outside my window) &
concentrated fully if its just my reflex muscles making these vibrations since
I was very exhausted in hiking that day in our hills. But I swear its not my
muscles making those reflex vibrations, I can really feel a cold skin while
making contact on my thigh, & it felt like a fist! I quickly jumped out of my
bed, screaming I even got tripped as I ran out to my room. my sister went out
her room to see what was that all about, I told her the story but it seemed
she doesn't believe me, so I just went inside her room & spent the night
sleeping at her bedroom floor.
Now this is
the funny part to read I'm telling you about in the beginning, but I assure
you its all true. 2 years ago I was taking a shower, when I was done, I went
to my room to get some clothes to wear, so I have to open my walk-in closet.
But when I did, instantly there was a man facing behind me, in a split second
when he heard the closet doors open he turned his head at me and demanded in
an angry screaming voice "putangina sarado mo ang pinto!!!" (it means "shut
the f****ng door!!!" if translated in English) I was so shocked I fell down at
my back, still seeing him standing there angry
faced, looking at me. I quickly rose up and ran out
of my room & stayed in our front porch until my parents returned from work (I
was alone in our house the whole time). Imagine I was so scared I stayed
outside our house sitting in a chair wearing nothing but a towel around my
waist & waited for 3 hours until my parents arrive. constantly looking through
our window to see if there was just a man may be a robber or thief went inside
our house while I was in the shower. but there was no one came out my door! he
cant even escaped through my bedroom window because he will definitely will
not fit in our fixed window grills. while I was outside I was trying to
imagine who would that be, it was so real that I even felt his spit as he
screamed right at my face! thinking hard, the person was bald, around almost
50 years of age, looked pale & even looked like ozzy osbourne!!! yes the
rocker! I know who ozzy osbourne is but I don't even listen to his music. rock
& roll is not my thing. when my parents finally arrived they asked me why I
was outside the house almost naked, I told them my story but they just laughed
& didn't believe me. I just let it go. who was that man? I said to myself,
we had this house even before I was born! I'm sure our house is not haunted
coz this is the only house we own, we're not living there on rent. so maybe
the grounds where our house is sitting is haunted. I don't know, how about
you?
-Sonny.
(NOTE): Here's an interesting email I received concerning
the topic of Shadow People... WHAT did he SEE?)
I don't
remember my exact age at the time, but I think I was 6-8. I lived in St.
Joseph Michigan 2 blocks from Lake Michigan near a wooded area. My
bedroom was on the second story of a home my father had build which I always
thought was creepy. The window to the room faced east, while the front of the
house looked out towards the lake. My bed faced west with the moonlight from
the window projecting on the wall.
One night I awoke from my
sleep when I looked at the wall. I saw it as vivid as anything else I have
ever seen. It was a shadow of a man with a hat, almost like a short cowboy hat
and vest (opened); I could see the outline clearly as it wasn't
a fuzzy projection, but a sharp image. I can remember staring at the
figure thinking 'what the hell is that?'. It would look my way, then turn its
head to the right, then look at me again. It repeated to do this a few
times. Then, it took its arms and appeared to have been pulling something
towards him, leaving a 1 foot gap between his hands. This happened about 2 or
three times, while its head was looking at me, and looking to the right the
same time.
I didn't know what to do, so
I just pulled the covers over my head and never told anyone. I know it wasn
't
a dream because it is one of the most vivid experiences of my childhood. Now
I find out people have had similar experiences with the 'hat man' which really
freaks me out. My figure didn't have red eyes or a
cloak, I could see arms and legs clearly.
What's going on??
(This email was received last
January...on a paranormal topic I find especially fascinating - Skinwalkers.)
After reading your story, I
thought I would share with you a little story of my
experience. Living as a student at Northern Arizona
University, I would travel to see my friends on the
Navajo Reservation. I would leave after the night
clubs closed. Traveling North-East, through the
community of Leupp, I would continue to drive the
road towards Delcon. I was born with a "lead" foot,
therefore I would be traveling at speeds of well
over 85-95 MPH. Traveling late at night I would
encounter a "creature of the night." It would start
on the passenger side of my car. I would ask my
passenger to bring the window down, as I have always
travel with a firearm. Countless times I have fired
multiple magazines of ammunition upon the creature.
It (the creature) would slow it's speed down and move
to my side of the car, running beside me (on the
driver's side). Once again, I would unload on it, and
it would run off the road and vanish into the
darkness. Every time I have encountered this animal
it has run off to the North. I have never stopped to
investigate what it's motives were. I would top out
my speed to approx. 120 MPH, wanting to get to the
nearest police station. Once there at the police
station, I would run into the building as fast as I
can. Once inside, bursting to catch my breath, the
dispatcher would inform me that it (the creature of
the night) is nothing new. Many people have reported
the "Skin walker."
I have also encountered these beings else where in
my travels across the Navajo Nation. -Derek.
(NOTE: Here's
another email on the topic of weird animals)
1. Large
Crypto Bird or Mothman
2. Axel S.
3. August,1998
4. Near Brainard, Minnesota
5. I was in my car driving along to our
cabin on the Pequot Lakes near Brainard MN when out
of my window I noticed a large black, brown shape. I
looked again and gave out a little yelp when I
realized that it was a very large birdlike creature.
It looked alot like Mothman exept that his red eyes where on a vuture
like head and neck and he seamed wider than Mothman.
I was overcome with an incredible fear and had trouble getting to sleep
that night. The Creture was pearched in a large tree about 17 ft. off
the ground and was over 4 ft. wide and 6 ft. tall
(wings tucked in). The red eyes weren't as prominent
as those of Mothman.
Thanks, -Axel.
(I thought this email would
have more impact if I posted it as it was sent, errors and all...)
My encounter happened last
night. July 20th..I was staying up late and everyone in my house was asleep,
it was about 11:59. I was sitting on my bed reading and I look up at my cat
and she is crouched low, like shes scare and looking at something that appears
to be right next tome.I turn around and I see nothing.Normally this wouldnt
scare me but I believe cats can see supernatural things, anyway i continued to
read when I heard something drop off of myshelf. There was no apparent reason
because there was no wind or anything. But my shelf was by my tv and i looked
into the blank tv screen and i saw a figure sitting on my bed with me, for a
clearer picture i glanced over at a mirror and it was still there but i turned
around to look at it and it was gone.

University Hall Ghost Tales
Providence, RI - When
students venture into University Hall at Brown
But more often students seek out University Hall - particularly in October -
because of its reputation, which includes "Beth," a ghost Younger blames for
removing student files from a safe in the admissions.
The building at Brown is in one of a handful of buildings on the East Side of
Providence that enjoy haunted reputations - and curious students. "We tried to
wait in the 1st floor lobby," said student Paul Cowan, 18. "Most of the people
here want to see a ghost. The place was packed this weekend. We were hoping to
hear a noise or see the ghost horse, but no luck."
Brown
University claims two buildings with tales of otherworldly residents,
says local historian Rory Raven, who leads a popular ghost tour of Providence
and holds a special tour around Halloween.
Raven says students who have walked through University Hall, built in 1770,
have told of encounters with many otherworldly residents.
Mary Karlsson, a student at Brown
and former intern, has heard many tales of University Hall. "One is a
furniture mover" blamed for moving a massive wooden bookcase to the middle of
a room that was supposedly empty, she said.
Another seems to be a man who
takes student records - employees have reported returning to their offices to
find dismantled files strewn about, Karlsson says. "Staff here report hearing
a men cry from closed offices," often when there is no one in the office, she
says.
A Brown University employee
dusting a frame in the upstairs hallway said she saw a reflection in the glass
of a man in period clothing. "When she whirled around, of course, there was
nobody there," Karlsson said. Providence was built in the height of the New
England shipping period. But by 1860, the shipping industry was running out
and the city became an industrial town. Brown itself was established in 1764.
Several students and workers at
the library across the street have reported seeing an apparition in the
upstairs offices Karlsson said. The staff named their ghostly resident
"Elizabeth," and believe her to be a student who died.
Office Assistant Marge Bender says
she can't confirm any of the stories. "There are bumps in the night, but they
haven't bumped me," she says. Younger, too, says she's never had a run-in with
any of the characters he tells stories about.
"I don't not believe in them," she said. "I think that there are things that
have happened at University Hall, particularly about the ghost horse, that are
just too bizarre to discount totally. For many of the things that happened, I
can attach a real reason to them."
That's not going to stop her from
telling the ghost stories. "These are things that people believed happened,
and who's to know?" he says.. Much of the mystery of University Hall can also
be explained away, Younger says. Her only unexplainable was when she saw wisps
of smoke coming down the stairway. She ran upstairs expecting to find a fire,
but instead "the hall was crystal clear," she says.
She then went to his office. Then
around 1 a.m., they vanished. It makes a good ghost story, but even Younger
isn't sure if she believes it. "I'm sort of a nonbeliever," she says, "but
there are some things you can't explain."
Secretary Melissa Bartini tells
the tale of hearing a horse roaming the basement of University Hall. Students
have seen a lone man leading a horse towards University Hall only to see the
man and horse vanish into the building itself. University Hall was a horse
stable a few hundred years ago. Bartini insists that she has heard the hoofs
of a horse coming out of the basement but when she
went down to the basement she finds nothing but old files.
The stories keep students like
Cowan and his girlfriend, Karen Shepp, 20, both of Cranston, coming back. Both
said they'll return to University Hall, and they've got several other Brown
University buildings with ghostly reputations in mind for future visits, Shepp
said. "We really want to see one. We've always been into this," she said.
(Here's one concerning Bloody Mary:)
"Until
very early this morning, neither my husband or I had ever heard of
the Legend of Bloody Mary.
Our 8 year old daughter, however, learned the story from a classmate
yesterday. About 2 am she awoke, absolutely terrified about Bloody
Mary coming to get her. She recounted the
details as she learned them from her
friend - stand in front of a mirror, in the dark, spin around three
times while chanting "Bloody Mary" five times (or
vice versa).
My husband and I did everything we could possibly think of to calm her down,
but to no avail. So, having no other choice, my husband DID just what
was supposed to summon Mary. Our daughter screamed,
cried and trembled during the process, but once
complete, when all was safe, and Mary did not appear,
she matter-of-factly agreed that "Bloody Mary" did not exist.
Whereas she slept with a light on the remainder of the evening, she was
anxious to go to school this morning to tell her friends that she had
disproved the Legend.
I've gathered as much information as I could from the Internet and intend to
share this with her so that she learns these are simply legends - and
are NOT factual.
You asked in your website if anyone dared attempt this. We have - and
we are safe."
