Another Time
Frozen With Fear
At my current place in Longmont
Colorado earlier this year (2005) I experienced something similar to what
Heather did.
For a long time I have had the
sensation that someone was affecting the quality of my wife and I's breathing
(through various methods). I would wake up some nights and feel like I was
being choked or pressure was being put on my chest. My wife and I have been
plagued by an abnormally high frequency of Bronchitis.
I was asleep only to be awakened
by the sound of footsteps in the hallway. I could feel the presence move into
the room while I was wide awake and frozen. The room grew darker and I got
colder along with the air around me. I was finally able to move after about
30 seconds and looked directly in the direction of the door. I prayed and the
room returned to normal, but footsteps could still occasionally be hear in the
hallway. I summoned my courage and got up to empty my bladder a few hours
later.
Before our most recent, and most
sever, bout of illness, walking pneumonia, I dreamed a spectral old hag was
reaching her hands into our chest and messing with things. I dreamed I awoke
as she was on me and I fought her off, but only to have her descend on my
sleeping wife. I removed her, but not before some damage was done. Later, I
had a waking vision of this hag above my sleeping wife again. My wife was
taking a nap with the light on, and above her was a shadow that hung in mid
air above her. I summoned my "energy" and swatted the shadow away as I woke
my wife. I think that this apartment needs to be purified.
I looked up the phenomenon to find
that it could have been related to the "old hags" syndrome. Some sites state
that it is a physiological response, that the signaling molecule that keeps us
from moving during dreams is still pumping through out veins. My wife has
awoken with barbed wire marks, as has my mom and grandmother.
the spirit could also be a
guardian as my grandfather visited me last night (though it was a little
creep, it was comforting).
