Two Years in Hell House

(The author notes:   "I have always been very interested in the paranormal. And my whole family believes that my curiosity was to blame for everything that happened in this house.")

Hi, my name is Jojo. This story takes place in a small town called Murfreesboro TN. It was the summer of 1992 and I was around 8 years old. My Mom, Dad, Sister, my Aunt V, and my cousins C, A,, and Ar and thier stepfather were all moving in together into this really nice big house on a street called Richardson Ave. The first day there we experienced something strange. My mom, sister and I were unpacking and we were alone in the house when all of a sudden we heard this very loud BOOM!!! It was so loud it shook the house. We all looked at each other and then (as in the movies) we decided to split up and check it out. We looked all over the whole house and we found nothing. Nothing had fallen, no one was in the house. Just nothing. We didn't think much of it after that, for a while anyway. Then the really creepy stuff started.....

We could be sitting in the living room and all of a sudden the phone would ring... We had no phone at the time. A radio would be playing and no matter where you were in the house it wouldn't get any louder or softer. It was like it was on in every room. And we all started to see things. Long black shadows along the walls. On one occasion my cousin A. and I were in my top bunk bed in my room. I hated my room because it had these long storage spaces that went the length of the whole room. They were up close to the ceiling (never understood why) and from the ceiling down they were only about a foot.  But they had these sliding doors that would never close all the way no matter how hard you tried to close them. It was like something was holding them open just enough to scare the living crap out of you in the middle of the night. They also stayed dark. Very dark. Like they absorbed light.

My cousin and I were laying in my bed (she is a year younger than me) when all of a sudden we heard what sounded like a large bird flapping its wings very fast. We both looked toward the wall to our right where the sound was coming from and thats when we saw it.  It was black as night.  It's hard to explain the way it looked. I could say that it was like a dense black smoke but that wouldnt do it justice.  If you can imagine this in your mind (it may be hard) it looked like a whisper. the way a whisper sounds. That is the impression it left on me. It traveled down the length of the wall and went into that storage space I was telling you about. We were frozen!!! I was the first to speak after about 2 minutes, " Did you see that?" then A. said "Yes, and I was hoping you saw it too."  Needless to say we didn't sleep at all that night.

On another occasion I was getting this horrible headache and I was crying and telling my mom that my head was hurting. I mean it was hurting something wicked!!! And she told me to lie down on the couch in the front livingroom (we had two). As I was laying there Ii started to feel this warm sensation that started in my toes and went all the way up my body. I thought I was dying or something and then all of a sudden I started seeing 'them'.  At first they were fuzzy, like colorful television static.  They were people. All over the livingroom.  It must have been at least 20 or so.  They were all around me.  I was screaming to my mom that there were people in the livingroom and she told me to close my eyes and go to sleep. Soon they started getting sharper.  I could make out features on their faces.  The scariest one that I saw was at the end of the couch where my feet were.  I say it was the scariest one because it looked just like my sister.  I went down to touch it (actually thinking she had come in and laid on the foot of the couch) and when I did it just sort of dissipated.  I went hysterical.  My mom finally let me come in and sleep with her.

There are many many many more tales to tell about this house - the stories I told above are just the tiny tip of the iceburg. I was really just trying to see if after all these years ( im 22 now) i could actually write this story down.  I'm getting scared and lightheaded but I think I can finally spill my guts. So until next time.....

-Jojo.
